Barkhausen Noise Analysis (BNA) method, also referred to as the Magnetoelastic or the Micromagnetic method is based on a concept of inductive measurement of a noise-like signal, generated when magnetic field is applied to a ferromagnetic sample.
Many common surface treatments such as grinding, shot peening, carburizing and induction hardening, involve some modification of both stress and microstructure and can be readily detected using the method. Various dynamic processes such as creep and fatigue similarly involve changes in stress and microstructure and can also be monitored with Barkhausen noise.

BARKHAUSEN NOISE ANALYSIS

The XSTRESS measurement technique allows fast and highly accurate measurement of residual stresses in all crystalline materials such as steel, aluminum, titanium etc. as well as analysis of residual austenite content in hardened steels. Today, the fourth generation of X-ray stress analyzers, the XSTRESS 3000, appeals equally to demanding academics as to factory shop floor users. MS Windows based software can be operated by a production worker while expert level menus allow researchers unrestricted access to all measurement parameters.

PRISM (Precision Real-time Instrument for Surface Measurement) is a measurement tool that provides full field-of-view surface shape change measurement around a drilled hole. Based on the principle of electron speckle pattern interferometry, the system can provide quantitative measurement down to approximately 30 nanometers.
PRISM dramatically improves the ability to make quick and accurate residual stress measurements and significantly increases the speed of data acquisition over the traditional strain gauge hole-drilling technique of measuring residual stress. With a PRISM system, users can perform the entire operation and have stress results in less than 5 minutes.
